WordPress plugins are a great way to amp up your website with new functionality, integrations, modifications and so much more. It is no wonder why WordPress has come so far in bringing one of the most user friendly Content Management Systems (CMS) to web designers, developers and even the average Joe wanting to build his own website.
So in today’s How to Tutorial, we’re going to show you how to install a plugin using both methods; Either through the WordPress Repository or Downloading from a trusted source and uploading the plugin.
For this tutorial, we’re going to use one of our favorite plugins called Elementor Free Page Builder – Click here if you’d like to know more about Elementor Free or Elementor Pro.
Just a quick tip – The free version is more than capable of handling most tasks and if you keep reading our blogs, you’ll see where we highlight easy workaround methods to gain just as much features and functions as you would if you were using Pro – We see it like this, until you can afford R 1600 per year ($100) – There is no reason why you should, unless you could 😉
On with the tutorial:
WordPress Repository Method
Step 1:
Log into your WordPress Admin area, then hover over “Plugins” on the left sidebar and select “Add New”
Step 2:
Then, in the search box, type: “elementor” – Then after the search is complete, you can select Elementor Website Builder (often called Elementor Page Builder) and click “Install Now”
PLEASE NOTE, you can search many plugins or phrases here and the search will match what you are looking for, again for this tutorial we are using the Elementor Plugin.Â
Step 3:
Click “Activate” and that’s it!
You’ll find Elementor installed here in your sidebar.
Of course, using Elementor requires it’s own tutorial 😉 which you can find by clicking here: How to build a website using Elementor
Part 2 of this article will discuss manually uploading and installing a Plugin to WordPress using Essential Addons for Elementor – Another favourite of ours!
See you at Part 2 using the upload method to install a WordPress Plugin
Chat soon – Cheers 😉
